The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) provides a framework that allows various computer software tools to rate the potential energy efficiency of Australian homes through Thermal Performance Assessments and delivers a star rating from 1 to 10. NatHERS defines the minimum set of information that must be used by all software tools.
A NatHERS Thermal Performance Assessment or Thermal Comfort Assessment promotes better design and building practices, it helps designers and builders plan and construct homes that are more energy efficient.
According to the National Construction Code (NCC) a minimum standard for energy efficiency of new homes must be met in order to meet the compliance with the requirements of the NCC. Starting 01 October 2023, this minimum standard will increase from 6-stars to 7-stars.
